A rolling stone gathers no... mouse?

Posted 16/2/2015

I guess we've been parked for way too long as Waki has ended up with a few not-so-welcome visitors! On hearing scratching noises behind the fridge early one morning we quickly realised that we must have mice. To be fair we expected that we'd get some visitors since it's just us and farm buildings around here and I don't mind as long as it's only occasional and they keep to themselves, however they haven't kept to themselves!

Yesterday morning I opened the oven to discover that half of my non-stick tray liner had been eaten and replaced with a vast array of mouse 'evidence'! Yuck! The gruesome discovery sparked an immediate hole plugging and disinfecting operation throughout.

I suspected that they were coming in through the wall vent for the water heater, and that seemed to be the area they were scratching about in, but on closer inspection Ryan discovered that we had something of a mouse highway up the stabiliser legs and along the chassis! They were then making their way into the gas locker and through the heater ducts to our living area. Thankfully they hadn't yet located our food cupboard and, as the kitchen is still pending improvements, I've not been making any fudge for sale so no loss of stock etc!

In one of my recent blog posts I talked about silver linings so where's this one? Well, it's given us the kick up the back-sides we needed to get on with completing the kitchen work and building an improved sofa whilst we have it all torn up plugging gaps and cleaning so updates to follow...
